INTO THE LIGHT

Into the Light is a series of works that live on the border between three-dimensional form and painting — images that refuse to settle fully into either. Neither purely sculptural nor purely painted, they occupy the threshold where the two meet, where surface begins to lift into space and volume flattens back into image.
The works emerge from a process that itself crosses between the physical and the digital: 3D scanning is used to capture real, tangible forms, which are then translated and reworked into the pictorial space of the series. This passage — from physical object to digital scan to painted image — is what gives the works their in-between quality, carrying the trace of a three-dimensional presence into a painted surface.
That in-between state is the subject as much as the method. Working across this boundary, the series treats emergence itself as its theme: forms coming into visibility, figures moving out of shadow and into the light. The title names both a formal condition — the play of light across a surface that is neither flat nor fully rounded — and a wider gesture toward visibility, presence, and the act of bringing something once obscured into view.
The series was exhibited at Brazil House in Accra as part of the Chale Wote Street Art Festival, a setting that placed the work within one of the continent's most vibrant gatherings of contemporary art, performance, and street culture.
